Celebrating your Engagement

Celebrating your Engagement

You’re engaged! Congratulations! You’re probably feeling pretty great right now. And you should be! This is a big moment in your life and a special time that is deserving of a celebration. But how will you celebrate?

Obviously, this will depend on the two of you, your preferences, your life situation, and your friends and family. However, it’s definitely a good idea to spend some time enjoying and celebrating your engagement. Soon you’ll be swamped by wedding planning, so it makes sense to spend some time enjoying your engagement before you're confronted with debates over wedding venues, photographers, table settings and more.

Here are some tips for fantastic ways to celebrate your engagement.

Celebrate on Social Media

Social media is how we connect with our friends and family and how we keep people we care about updated on our lives. So it certainly makes sense to celebrate your engagement on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and whatever other social networks you spend your time on.

How can you do it?

Obviously, you’ll want to get the most positive reactions possible from your posting, so you’ll need to think a little strategically. It’s far more powerful to make one post (with at least one photo!) than it is to make several. This makes it more convenient for people to comment on, like and share and it also keeps your engagement from overwhelming anyone’s social feed.

Plan an Engagement Party

You might want to have an engagement party so that you can celebrate in style with friends and family. This can be a casual night out at a restaurant or bar, or a more formal event at a specific venue. It’s entirely up to you! An engagement party is a great opportunity to introduce the members of your wedding party to one another (if they don’t already know each other) and it’s also a great way to get your families together so they can bond.

Take a Trip

A lot of couples like to take a trip together in order to celebrate their engagements. This gives you an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other’s company before you have to dive into the hectic world of wedding planning.

Your trip doesn’t have to be an international adventure in order to be enjoyable. Booking a bed and breakfast for the weekend, for example, can be a very romantic way to celebrate.

Enjoy Time Together

No matter what you do to celebrate, you’ll want to make sure to have some time for just the two of you. Getting engaged and planning a wedding can be stressful and you’ll probably have a very busy social calendar for the next little while, so make sure to take some for just the two of you, even if it’s just turning off your phones for a weekend and watching TV together. It’s your engagement, so celebrate it together!
