Is Wedding Season Inspiring You to Propose?

Is Wedding Season Inspiring You to Propose?

Depending on where you live, “wedding season” could happen at various different times. The term “wedding season” refers to the most popular time of the year to hold a wedding. In most regions, this is the time where the weather is the most pleasant. For example, in most parts of North America, wedding season takes place between June and October.

During “wedding season” love is in the air and there’s a good chance you’ve been invited to at least one wedding this season already.

Is wedding season making you picture your own wedding? Have you been inspired and are thinking about proposing? If you are, first of all, congratulations! Being in a relationship where you’re thinking of getting married and spending the rest of your life with a person you love is amazing and this is a special time.

Considering popping the question? Here is what you need to know.

Things to Think About Before Proposing

If you’re thinking about proposing, you’ve probably already considered that you and your special someone are on the same page. Do they want to get married? Have the two of you talked about your futures? Do they see themselves spending their life with you? If the answers to these questions is yes, then you’re in a good position.

You may also want to speak with her parents. While asking for her parent’s permission is a tradition that may have gone out of fashion with many people, it can still be one that you choose to uphold, depending on your situation. If you know that your future wife and her parents would appreciate you mentioning the proposal to them before you get down on one knee, feel free to do so. You don't need to "ask for permission" if you don't wish to, but informing them of your intentions can be a good idea. All you’ll need to do is say “I’m very in love with your daughter and I’d like to ask her to marry me. I’d love if you were involved in this special time in our lives.”

Of course, if you don’t think your partner or her parents would want you to mention the proposal beforehand, you don’t need to.

Buying an Engagement Ring

Once you’ve decided to get married, one of the first steps is buying an engagement ring. A lot of people get stressed out and even feel intimidated by this process, but that doesn’t have to be the case.

One way to calm yourself down is to do some research. This is probably one of your first experiences with buying diamonds and high-end jewelry, so it helps to know what you’re getting into before you dive in. Not sure where to start? Check out our diamond education center to discover everything you need to know about buying a diamond engagement ring. Not only will doing some research leave you feeling more confident with your decision, but you’ll buy a better ring when you know what you’re looking for.

You may also want to consider a custom engagement ring. This is a wonderful way to get a ring that is truly one of a kind. When you choose a custom engagement ring, you sit down with a designer and let them know what you’re looking for in a ring. They will take your vision and turn it into reality! Keep in mind that not all jewelers offer custom engagement ring design, so if this is what you’re interested in, make sure to choose a jeweler that can do this for you.

That brings us to our final point, which is that not all jewelry stores are created equal. They will differ in many ways, ranging from cost to level of service to the type of collections that they offer. Before choosing a jeweler, be sure to shop around. Read online reviews, ask friends and family for recommendations, and talk to the jewelers themselves. A brief discussion with a jeweler will help you determine whether they are truly interested in helping you get the right engagement ring or if they are just concerned with making a sale.
