Meghan Markle’s Engagement Ring & Planning Your Own Royal Wedding

Unless you’ve been away from society for the last while, you know that Prince Harry has proposed to actress Meghan Markle and the two are now engaged to be married. Of course, as with any engagement, one of the first things that people want to know more about is the engagement ring.

When anyone gets engaged, people want to see the ring and find out more about it, and this situation is no different. Of course, when you’re dealing with a member of the Royal Family, you’re talking about a very elaborate (and expensive) engagement ring and that only increases interest in it.

Prince Harry explained to the BBC that the ring is a custom engagement ring design that he commissioned himself. It contains two diamonds from the collection of Princess Diana (Harry’s late mother) as well as a larger cushion-cut center stone that was sourced from Botswana. This design is a unique and special touch that combines a stunning new diamond with some meaningful heirloom stones to create a wonderful engagement ring that is certainly eye-catching and beautiful.

How to Get Meghan Markle’s Engagement Ring

While you’ll likely won’t be able to gain access to Princess Diana’s diamond collection (unless you’re in the Royal Family, of course) that doesn’t mean you can’t get a similar engagement ring that gives off a similar feel.

The striking “triad” or three-stone design, that combines three stones together on the ring, is one that is sure to become more popular now that it is attached to the Royal couple. With a three-stone design, all three stones can be diamonds (as with Meghan Markle’s engagement ring) or you can have different precious stones can complement the center diamond, such as rubies or sapphires. For more beautiful examples, please take a look at our three-stone engagement ring collection.

How much is Meghan Markle’s engagement ring worth? The official price hasn’t been revealed, but it’s assumed that the ring is worth almost $67,000 US. If you’re trying to get a similar ring, don’t worry, you don’t need to spend quite as much. Having trouble setting a budget for your engagement ring? Here are some tips for coming up with a budget as well as a guide to getting a great engagement ring on any budget.

Planning Your Own “Royal Wedding”

Just because you’re not actually in the Royal Family, it doesn’t mean that you can’t feel like a prince or princess for a day. On your wedding, it’s all about you and your love, so you get the chance to dress up in fabulous clothing and be the center of attention, just like the Royals.

Planning a wedding actually starts when you plan your proposal. Putting together the perfect proposal is not just important but it’s also fun.

How did the new Royal couple get engaged? Harry apparently popped the question while the couple was making dinner together at the cottage. This is the kind of personal proposal that many people want. It’s a truly intimate proposal that is unique to the couple and truly memorable. If you’re thinking of proposing, remember that your proposal should be about the two of you as a couple. There are many, many different ways to propose, but not all of them will be suitable for the two of you. Check out our infographic on planning the perfect proposal for some ideas. We also have some great tips on keeping the proposal a surprise.

Once you’ve popped the question (and she’s said yes) it’s time to get down to all of the details of wedding planning. Some people find this process overwhelming, but it certainly doesn’t have to be. It pays to be organized and it’s always good to have family members and good friends around to help you. Just remember that this wedding is about you and you can’t please everyone!

Wedding planning can be stressful, but there are ways to deal with wedding planning stress that will keep you calm and focused. With some time, effort, and creativity, you’ll be well on your way to having your own spectacular “royal wedding.”
