Five Details You Don’t Want to Forget When Planning Your Wedding

Wedding planning is a lot of work and there are a lot of things to take care of. When you’re planning your wedding, you’ll quickly find that there are a many moving parts involved and a lot of different things to keep in mind. Many of these aspects are small, so they can be easy to forget when you’re looking at the big picture.

Here are five important details that you won’t want to forget when you’re planning your wedding.

Have A Backup Plan

No matter what your plans are, things can always change. You might think that you’ve thought of every possible option and then there’s a rain storm, the weather is unseasonably warm, the power goes out at your reception hall, or nearly anything else. While you can’t possibly prepare for every situation imaginable, you can come up with backup plans for the most common potential issues.

One of the problems that can really throw a wrench into your plans is the weather. For instance, if you hoped to take your photos outside in a beautiful garden, and there’s a severe thunderstorm on the day of your wedding, you’ll need an alternate plan. Even if you’ve looked at years of historical weather reports and trends, unexpected weather can happen, so you should certainly have a backup plan no matter what.

It’s also important that you prepare yourself to “roll with the punches” and go with the situation you’re faced with if you have no other options. No wedding is perfect and there are always some issues. Once you realize this and prepare yourself emotionally for the unexpected, you’ll have a much easier time dealing with potential issues.

Take Care of Yourself

A lot of couples are so wrapped up with the excitement and busyness of their wedding day that they forget to eat, drink water, and rest when possible. Unfortunately, if you go the whole day without eating, drinking, or sitting down, you’re not going to feel very well by the end of the night. You don’t want to have a miserable time at your own wedding, so take the time to get some nutrition on your wedding day and be sure to stay hydrated. This is especially true if it's very hot or if you're running around all day.

Transportation and Lodging

There are various transportation concerns that you'll need to be aware of on your wedding day. You may need to arrange for transportation for guests, especially for family that is coming from out of town and may not have their own vehicles with them. Your wedding party will also need to be taken care of. Don't leave this until the last minute as transportation services like buses and limos book up fast.

Don't forget about yourselves either! You might be leaving the hotel or venue at a different time than your family or your wedding party, so make sure you've arranged for your own transportation. It's also important to think about how you'll travel once the wedding is over. Whether you're going home, to a hotel, or straight to the airport, you'll need a way to get there.

Booking hotels or other accommodations for out of town guests is important as well. If you're having your wedding in a popular tourist destination or during a busy time of year for the region, you'll need to make sure to book rooms well in advance.

A Change of Clothes

There are many different reasons why you might need a change of clothes on your wedding day. You might want to change your shoes for the reception, for instance, so that it's easier for you to dance. You might want a more comfortable outfit to wear for a portion of the evening, especially as it gets later and you start feeling tired. You may even want to have a backup option in case something happens to your clothes (such as a rip, spill, or other incident).

If you're planning on spending the night at a hotel, be sure to bring clothes to wear the next day. This is especially true if you're having a brunch with friends and family. You want to make sure you have something to wear!

Have Fun

A lot of people are so busy on their wedding day that they forget to enjoy themselves. Your wedding is a magical moment and one that you'll want to remember for the rest of your life. Try to take at least a moment to let it all soak in and enjoy it.

If at all possible, make an effort up find some alone time with your partner. While you're likely having a great time with friends and family, don't forget that this day is about the two of you.
